JAKE LA BOTZ

Jake La Botz's rough upbringing in Chicago led him to learn the blues from the last blues musicians of the pre-war era. With his guitar in hand, he traveled across the US until he arrived in Hollywood at the end of the line, where an unlikely acting career began to unfold. After getting clean from heroin at the age of thirty, La Botz became a practitioner and teacher of Buddhist meditation. He took his bluesy guitar skills to a black Baptist church in South Central L.A., where he immersed himself in gospel music. Since then, La Botz has been releasing his own brand of Gospel-noir Americana. The eccentric stories, characters, and underlying spiritual messages that emerge in his songs are brought together on his latest album, Hair on Fire.

La Botz has over twenty film credits, including roles in True Detective, Rambo, and On the Road. His most recent film, D.O.A., stars fellow musician John Doe of the band X. Now, the versatile American blues and rock 'n' roll singer-songwriter travels the world, stopping for a show in Breskens at the Dust! My Blues Festival 2025.
